Sophie loves art time at school and creates new projects nearly every day.  A couple of weeks ago, she brought this home:

I didn't really get a chance to look at it closely until after Sophie went to bed that night.  I noticed the gingerbread man's green mouth and ladybug nose, and as I looked it over, I also noticed the two ladybugs on the torso.  I was a little concerned.  Since Nick had picked Sophie up that day, I asked him why the gingerbread man had ladybug pasties.  Apparently, he hadn't noticed either and it was quite a surprise to him, too.  The next morning, I asked Sophie what those two ladybugs were.  Her response was, "Oh, they're pockets!"  Well, of course!
Last Monday, we got a few inches of snow and Sophie was so excited.  She asked all day if we could go outside and play.  Once Nick got home, we finally made it outside.  Although we tried our best to make a snowman, the snow was too powdery and it just wasn't working, so we decided just to draw a snowman on the ground.  Sophie was still very proud:

We also had a snowball fight, which Sophie thought was great fun, and made snow angels:

At Christmastime, I bought a gingerbread house for Sophie.  Unfortunately, with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we weren't able to find time to decorate it.  She'd been asking about it lately, so I thought it might be fun to re-purpose it and make it a Valentine's Day house.  I just purchased some Valentine's candy and a few cake decorations.  Sophie and I ended up having a great time decorating the house this weekend:

And here is a shot of the girls celebrating this morning:

We are very excited to report that Helena has recently learned to pull herself up to standing.  We've even had to lower her crib.  I don't think it will be long before she's cruising:

In other baby news, Helena started signing last night!  I thought it might be a fluke, so I repeated the word milk to her several times and she made the sign each time.  We were so excited!  Here are some shots of her in action:

Yesterday, we were folding laundry and I had the idea to take a picture of Helena with a sock on her head:

It was probably because this is one of my favorite pictures of Sophia, taken when she was about the same age as Helena is now:

Helena did not have quite the same reaction, though.  Although Sophie had looked at me like I was crazy, Helena just thought it was funny.
