Sadly, we recently lost our beloved great-granny.  We will miss her immensely.  Here are a few of our favorite pictures with her:

For the past couple of months, Lanie has been learning new words non-stop.  We love hearing all the new things she has to say, but of course there are some words that are extra special.  Last week, when I put her to bed and told her "I love you", she looked at me and said, "wub whoa".  She has been telling us every day since then.  I know that she is learning more and more each day, but I can't imagine that anything else will top this!

This month, Sophie was selected as the Student of the Month for her class!  Each month, the school focuses on one character trait and selects the student who best represents it.  This month's trait was self-control.  Sophie was so happy to be recognized at their monthly assembly, where she was presented a certificate and prizes.  She also got to have her picture in this month's school newsletter.  We are so proud of how well she's doing in kindergarten!

The girls started celebrating Valentine's Day a little early with presents from their dear aunt.  As always, they were very excited to see that they had a package, and even more excited to open it.  (Disclaimer: We did not style Helena's hair.  That was done by one of her teachers.)

Sophie was pleased to see that she had a new shirt to wear to her class Valentine's Day party, and new stickers to use for the letters she likes to write to all of her favorite people:

And Lanie was happy to see that she received two of her favorite things - socks and an Elmo (or Omo as she likes to call him):

From Sophie:  "These are the heart-head people.  They're sad because the purple monster wanted to eat them, so they put up a stop sign and ran away."
Helena turned 18 months old on January 21st, so we went to the doctor this past week for her well-baby checkup.  Fortunately, she did not have to get any shots during this visit, which means she was a very happy girl.  While we were there, we also got her latest measurements.  Helena is now 33.5 inches tall (90th percentile) and 21 pounds, 5 ounces (7th percentile)!  She has been learning new words everyday and is even forming short sentences now.  Her current hobbies include quacking like a duck, looking at books, showing us her belly button, and acting crazy:
